I watched the vice presidential debate last night to know what’s up with our vice presidential candidates. And I would like to point out that me being in business already smell something that’s complete bullshit and what are genuinely good idea for a solution with our candidate’s answers.

I won’t be naming names as I will keep the decision to vote in your hands. We all have different opinions and me, having owning this blog, have a point of view on the matter. For one, I hate these politicians bashing each other. It’s like shit talking to fart that he stinks. When there are questions and problems prompted by the people, what I hear are the words “fight corruption & poverty” each and everytime. For my understanding, fighting corruption & poverty is indeed a great thing but giving a simpler solution to a problem is what counts most and you don’t have to bash the present administration to tell the people you are better. Let your ideas do the talking and the people the voting.

Like for example, the question about “How will you help the farmers that are affected by the El Nino”. All of the candidates answered fight corruption and only 1 out of them gave a really striking answer. In short all of them are whining about the present administration and 1 of them only gave a solution to the problem. “Build more and better irrigation”. If you watched it last night, you know what I’m talking about.

Another question prompted by a teacher “What can you do to help those teachers in remote areas? And the children lacking books and school supplies?” You know what the majority of them answered? Fight corruption because the funds are being halted there. How blur can you get? People know that the government is corrupt. The world know that the Philippine government is one of the corrupt goverment in the world. What we want to know if “HOW”. All of them are just bashing each other. Only one answer I’m completely impressed. “Raise the teacher’s salary and give every student a kindle.”. I said “WOW! A kindle! That’s effin’ brilliant!” Even when joking around, I would never thought of that. To all who doesn’t know, a kindle is an electronic device where you can get books in electronic format and read it. You can have 4,000+ books in this kindle and each student can use it until college. It’s a lot cheaper than a laptop and lighter to carry than a real book.

The sad thing is, I think we Filipinos are not yet over in voting for the person that is most dear in our hearts rather than a person that has the solution to a problem. Making the cycle repeat itself because we put the person uncapable yet makes us happy. We put people that are famous rather than people who can’t talk politics and just do action. We tend to put faith that a nice person can do all the job a competent person can. The sad thing is, a competent person, be it bad or good will always be better than just a nice person. We want to be “better” than other countries. Saying better is already challenging other nations. We don’t need nice guys to compete, we need competent people. Not whiners. People that when we think of, we remember them by the things they’ve done. Not by the things they’ve said and said they will do.

Picking a leader just like in a group in the class most often than not falls to the people who are most capable. Not because he is a close friend of yours. Why don’t we have this same mentality when picking leaders for our country? Most of the time, the better you are at speaking, the more chance your are at sitting in office. I guess, its all about selling yourself. Winning in a verbal debate is a sign of higher intellect to most of the people. To me, either you proved your point or not, what’s important is what you have done before talking, that speaks most clearly. We tend to forget about that. When choosing a candidate to vote, please ask yourself, what have this person done that really made a difference. Will my apo and apo sa tuhod benefit from this? When I’m gone, will my lineage benefit from this? Though we can see a lot of ads a politician helping and ofw get back to the Philippines as good. What good does it bring to the Philippines as a whole? When he gets back here, that ends there. Helping a person in need is good. But a politician putting an effort just to get testimonials to his next tv ad is probably the reason for helping you. Put our emotions aside because emotions cloud our judgment. Leave the “Follow your heart” bullshit to the hopeless romantics. We are placing our families and future generations at risk here. We think with our minds not with our hearts. It’s the same reason it’s placed above the head. When more lives are at stake (the Filipinos), would you decide using your heart or your head?

At the end of the day. When all things are said and done. If in case we all made a mistake placing the wrong guy in office. We should not blame the government if we are poor, if the government is corrupt, if the prices is high, if we still don’t have a house, if there are still squaters in the city, if there are crimes, if there are corrupt politicians and if there are still people who can’t afford to eat. Because after all, we are the one to blame. We put him there!

Vote wisely my friends!

This is one of the most influential piece of writing that I ever read in my life. It is so much true and you can never hide the fact that I always tell in my blog that I never liked Filipinos who’s only aim is to get out of the country and work. You may read some it here, “The Irony of Filipinos” and here, “Philippines: No Hope?“.. Filipinos associating “Better Life” to “Going Abroad”. You will know the reason if you read the essay and I hope it sparks even the tiniest bit of patriotism in everyone’s heart.

MY SHORT ESSAY ABOUT THE PHILIPPINES
Jaeyoun Kim

Filipinos always complain about the corruption in the Philippines . Do you really think the corruption is the problem? I do not think so. I strongly believe that the problem is the lack of love for the Philippines .

Let me first talk about my country, Korea . It might help you understand my point. After the Korean War, South Korea was one of the poorest countries in the world. Koreans had to start from scratch because entire country was destroyed after the Korean War, and we had nonatural resources. Koreans used to talk about the Philippines, for Filipinos were very rich in Asia .

We envy Filipinos. Koreans really wanted to be well off like Filipinos. Many Koreans died of famine. My father & brother also died because of famine. Korean government was very corrupt and is still very corrupt beyond your imagination, but Korea was able to develop dramatically because Koreans really did their best for the common good with their heart burning with patriotism. Koreans did not work just for themselves but also for their neighborhood and country. Education inspired young men with the spirit of patriotism.

40 years ago, President Park took over the government to reform Korea . He tried to borrow money from other countries, but it was not possible to get a loan and attract a foreign investment because the economic situation of South Korea was so bad. Korea had only three factories. So, President Park sent many mine workers and nurses to Germany so that they could send money to Korea to build a factory. They had to go through horrible experience.

In 1964, President Park visited Germany to borrow money. Hundred of Koreans in Germany came to the airport to welcome him and cried there as they saw the President Park . They asked to him, “President, when can we be well off?” That was the only question everyone asked to him. President Park cried with them and promised them that Korea would be well off if everyone works hard for Korea, and the President of Germany got the strong impression on them and lent money to Korea . So, President Park was able to build many factories in Korea . He always asked Koreans to love their country from their heart. Many Korean scientists and engineers in the USA came back to Korea to help developing country because they wanted their country to be well off. Though they received very small salary, they did their best for Korea . They always hoped that their children would live in well off country.

My parents always brought me to the places where poor and physically handicapped people live. They wanted me to understand their life and help them. I also worked for Catholic Church when I was in the army. The only thing I learned from Catholic Church was that we have to love our neighborhood. And, I have loved my neighborhood. Have you cried for the Philippines ?

I have cried for my country several times. I also cried for the Philippines because of so many poor people. I have been to the New Bilibid prison. What made me sad in the prison were the prisoners who do not have any love for their country. They go to mass and work for Church. They pray everyday. However, they do not love the Philippines . I talked to two prisoners at the maximum-security compound, and both of them said that they would leave the Philippines right after they are released from the prison. They said that they would start a new life in other countries and never come back to the Philippines .

Many Koreans have a great love for Korea so that we were able to share our wealth with our neighborhood. The owners of factory and company were distributed their profit to their employees fairly so that employees could buy what they needed and saved money for the future and their children.

When I was in Korea , I had a very strong faith and wanted to be a priest. However, when I came to the Philippines , I completely lost my faith. I was very confused when I saw many unbelievable situations in the Philippines . Street kids always make me sad, and I see them everyday. The Philippines is the only Catholic country in Asia , but there are too many poor people here. People go to church every Sunday to pray, but nothing has been changed.

My parents came to the Philippines last week and saw this situation. They told me that Korea was much poorer than the present Philippines when they were young. They are so sorry that there are so many beggars and street kids.

When we went to Pasangjan, I forced my parents to take a boat because it would fun. However, they were not happy after taking a boat. They said that they would not take the boat again because they were sympathized the boatmen, for the boatmen were very poor and had a small frame. Most of people just took a boat and enjoyed it. But, my parents did not enjoy it because of love for them.

My mother who has been working for Catholic Church since I was very young told me that if we just go to mass without changing ourselves, we are not Catholic indeed. Faith should come with action.

She added that I have to love Filipinos and do good things for them because all of us are same and have received a great love from God. I want Filipinos to love their neighborhood and country as much as they love God so that the Philippines will be well off.

I am sure that love is the keyword, which Filipinos should remember. We cannot change the sinful structure at once. It should start from person. Love must start in everybody, in a small scale and have to grow. A lot of things happen if we open up to love. Let’s put away our prejudices and look at our worries with our new eyes.

I discover that every person is worthy to beloved. Trust in love, because it makes changes possible. Love changes you and me. It changes people, contexts and relationships. It changes the world. Please love your neighborhood and country.

Jesus Christ said that whatever we do to others we do to Him. In the Philippines , there is God for people who are abused and abandoned. There is God who is crying for love.

If you have a child, teach them how to love the Philippines . Teach them why they have to love their neighborhood and country. You already know that God also will be very happy if you love others.

That’s all I really want to ask you Filipinos.

My question to you: Do you love the Philippines?

Ok my post about the “No Money on Pinay Scandal Keyword” I kind of feel obligated to educate people on how adsense goes and how to UP your earnings.

Let me give you a little drawing, tell me, if you are Google, what will be your decision?

Most likely if you’re in the right mind, you’ll pick HIGH CTR to put Mr. Gates’ Ad to get the best ROI for him. Then if you’re google, you’ll reward the HIGH CTR site with high paying clicks. And if HP or Dell decided to join the bandwagon, you already know what site to pick. Because Google knows your visitors are golden converting machine.

Then, you’ll put Poor Advertiser on the LOW CTR site. This is not necessarily Smartpricing just yet. If Google sees your CTR is just crap, even for the Poor Advertiser will be hurting, Google will change the price of Poor Advertiser’s clicks to 0.01 to 0.20 which is called Smartpricing.

Demystifying CTR and Conversion Rate

CTR or click through rate is the rate of successful clicks per impression. How many chances does your ads are getting clicks. Example. Pedro is looking for the programming software that mr gates is selling. He saw HIGH CTR’s ads. Clicked on it. Well what do you know, successful click. Click. On to the advertiser’s site we go.

Conversion Rate. On the Advertisers site, Pedro did not purchase the product. He changed his mind. Conversion rate goes down.

That’s how it is. Conversion rate is not related to CTR. CTR Only gives you the chance to get the high paying advertisers and gives you the candidacy for Smartpricing.

edit: If you have HIGH CTR and Low Conversion most likely its click fraud. If you have LOW CTR and High Conversion, it doesn’t matter, your clicks are cheap anyway + you might get smart priced.

The big question : Does CTR affect my cost per click (EARNINGS)? YES. Is smartpricing real? Hell yes.

The thing is, if you’re confused about google’s tos about adsense and CTR? Don’t go quote it if you don’t know it yourself. CTR is there to let google know what kind of site you are. Conversion rate is for the merchant side. If the CTR and conversion rate has too much difference, you’ll get flagged as click fraud.

Hell, to make it simple, if you want to earn big bucks in adsense, aim for high ctr. Dump the conversion shit. You have no way of knowing anyway.

But hey, who am I? I have no 4 years of experience in blogging.

Gabriela wants 120 day work leave for pregnant women.

120 Days Leave for Filipina Women, Good or Bad?

It has been said in the news that the woman party list (or should I say feminist group) Grabriela filed a petition on the Philippine Congress to extend the normal 60 day maternity leave for pregnant working women to a full 120 days.

Now I am not against giving women a time to rest after their hard labor. But come on people. . . I hope Grabriela was thinking before they made their move there, 120 day leave? If I am a boss, its not practical to hire a woman in my work force if she got pregnant that means I’ll be in trouble. 120 is too much. Instead of helping the Filipinas by giving them an added vacation, that vacation might get permanent.

This is a guy’s point of view, of course women are open to post a comment on this. But for me, this is a no no. Its kind of . . . well, not thought of in the part of Gabriela Party List.

What are your thoughts on this?

Full report here

MANILA, Philippines — A bill extending the maternity leave benefits for women from the current 60 days to 120 days was filed Tuesday at the House of Representatives.

House Bill 3973 known as “An act increasing maternity leave benefits from 60 days to 120 days or four months” was initiated by Gabriela Women’s Partylist Representatives Liza Maza and Luzviminda Ilagan.

“Extending the period for maternity leave will not only give mothers the opportunity to fully recover, it will also give them the chance to breastfeed infants during the first four months,” Ilagan said in a statement.

The proposed legislation, the lawmaker said, would also help address the maternal and infant mortality rates in the country.

In their explanatory note of the bill, the authors cited studies by the Health Alliance for Democracy, which showed that 10 mothers died daily due to pregnancy and childbirth.

“Infant mortality was recorded at 25 per 1,000 live births in 2005 while maternal mortality was 162 per 100,000 live births in 2006,” they said.

“The Philippines ranks 84th out of 179 countries with available data of infant mortality rate,” they further said.

Ilagan said the Philippines, along with Malaysia, also ranked lowest in Southeast Asia in providing for maternity health care in terms of the length of period of maternity leave benefits.

“Vietnam allows 120-180 days while Thailan, Cambodia, Indonesia and Laos allow 90 days,” she said.

Source : Inquirer
