Happy Halloween!

Posted on 01 November 2008 by snoob - web designer philippines

How’s the Halloween season treating you? I hope its not that bad. This is the time of the year when even financial crisis is in the air, people are still spending money. Just like any season. There are times that people are saving money and spending money. Do not think that it’s not possible to earn even on financial crisis. :)

Since its a holiday today. I want to give a little update on what have I been doing. For those that read this blog, my friends and also those that knows me personally and wanted to get in touch. I rarely use the cellphone now because, well, I’m not the texter-type person. I get pretty tired of reading forwarded messages and calls from unknown people. Sorry guys. If you know me, make sure to let me know who you are. Anyway…

Web Design

Still a ton of work to do. We are redesigning nimble.ie - social networking site for Ireland for their relaunch and we have a lot of sleepless nights working on the design of the site. Making promotional graphics and stuff.

I also went to graphika manila but unfortunately, the one who took some photos hasn’t given me a copy of it yet. I’ll make sure to post it even if its late. One of the best thing about graphika manila this year is that an animator from Pixar is doing the speech.

My web design business is also growing. I now have a lot of connections that can help me out. I have known a lot of very good designers and coders that are willing to share profits and projects with me. I feel so blessed.

Affiliate Marketing

Never been better. This is probably the best year so far. My income sky rocketed! Though on the bad note, I have been slacking a lot knowing that I am now earning a lot more than I can spend. But still, there are still goals to meet and will not stop till I fulfill my dreams.

So how about you?

I experienced some ups and downs this year.

During the first quarter, I got a number of Microsoft Official trainings sponsore by our company.

On the second quarter of the year, I’ve been deployed to three MS technology projects. I also experienced sleepless nights learning ASP.NET 2.0 on my own, and then deploying my works on the client servers. I did those things on my own. And you know what - I don’t even get recognized for my works. Such a great company I work with. (sarcasm)

As for the third quarter of this year, I have been deployed as a QA tester for a project sponsored by a European company. I’ve been doing such a boring routine until now. I am so bored.

This December, I will be taking up 2 more Microsoft exams. I will be a Microsoft Certified Tech Specialist for SQl 2005 and Sharepoing by next year.

This year has been quite a challenge. And if you don’t know office politics, you won’t last long in this company. Such is the life of a corporate guy.

      PEACE!

      Hey man,

I really feel your sentiments as I have been a corporate guy since college. But I guess it all comes down to preference. I’m always the one that gets bored pretty fast so routine work for me is just not worth doing. Especially office politics. I’m really a quiet guy. Not a shy guy, just quiet. And most of the time, those that are “maingay” and friendly in the office are the one that gets noticed. As the saying goes, “The squeaky gear gets the grease”. And its one of those things that I hate about working in the corporate world.

Look on the bright side, you got certifications without spending anything. You’re already an investment to the company. Losing you would mean losing money for them. So get your heads up and be proud of your worth. There’s always light at the end of the tunnel bro.

      Regards
